Kingwood TX Move Theatre - Starplex Cinemas | Grand Opening June 18th 2010

My wife and I were fortunate to attend a VIP event last night at the new Starplex movie theatre located in Kingwood TX at HWY 59N and Northpark.  Starplex Cinemas Kingwood TX is a state of the art, 14 screen, all digital movie theatre. Community members had the opportunity to pick from a selection of movies and tryout some of the great concessions.  The staff was very friendly and personable making it a terrific experience.  My wife and I chose to watch How to Train Your Dragon in 3D.  The 3D effects were incredible. 

The Starplex movie theatre in Kingwood, TX also features a Intense Digital Experience (IDX) auditorium.  You will be pleasantly surprised with your visit to this local movie theatre.  Tickets can be purchased at the theatre or online.  Be sure if you purchase tickets online that you buy them through the Starplex Cinemas website.  The cost of the tickets online are the same as if you were paying for admission at the ticket counter.  There are no handling fees.

Christian recording artist and Kingwood native Christi Harper will perform at the Keller Williams Concert Series on June 18. She will be accompanied by the Houston-based Christian band Pierced Grip.

Harper will sing a mix of songs off her debut CD “Hear” and contemporary hits including those by Avalon, Kelly Clarkson, Carrie Underwood and Miley Cyrus. The musical sets will appeal to all generations. A “We are the World” rendition is planned with singers from area churches.

The charity guest will be the Blue Star Moms who will be collecting new packaged socks and individual flavor packs for bottled water for our U.S. military deployed in Iraq and Afghanistan.

Utilizing Social Media in Real Estate - The Myths and Truths

I am currently reading a great book called Social and written by Ben Kinney with Jay Papasan in Partnership with ActiveRain.  Reading this material reinforces the direction I have gone with my business to be more Internet based as opposed to traditional marketing methods.  Though I realize moving to a new medium takes time and acceptance from people, I have chosen to keep some of those traditional marketing methods in place.  One of the fascinating things I have read in the book so far is the myths and truths of social media, and I would like to share the perspective of the book on this matter.

Myth 1 - I do not have time.
Truth - It doesn’t take much time at all.

Myth 2 - It’s a time-waster.
Truth - It’s a time saver!

Myth 3 - Social networks are for children and teenagers.
Truth - Social Networks are being embraced by all demographics.

Myth 4 - It’s just a fad.
Truth - It’s fundamentally changing the way we communicate.

Myth 5 - Social media leads are poor leads.
Truth - Leads generated on social networds can be some of the highest quality leads available to real estate agents.

Myth 6 - Social media replaces my other lead generation activities.
Truth - Social media is a tool that can enhance your existing lead generation plan.

I post this information because being in the industry, I see many Realtors shy away from using social media.  Some of the excuses I have heard are listed above as myths.  As a Realtor, I have realized the importance the importance of using social media in my business both as a systematic tool to lead generate and as a powerful marketing tool for my clients.  When thinking about buying or selling a home, choose to work with a Realtor that realizes the importance of social media in both their business and in how people communicate in our world today.  It’s all about providing a higher level of customer service.

Recent decision by Humble ISD School Board impacting residents of Woodspring Forest in Kingwood, TX

In a close decision and as a the result of a single changed vote by Humble ISD school board member, Robert Scarfo, beginning in the Fall 2010 the residents of Woodspring Forest in Kingwood, Texas will be sending their children to different schools.  Children currently living in the neighborhood of Woodspring Forest are currently zoned to Deerwood Elementary and Riverwood Middle School.  The boundary change will have children living in Woodspring Forest attending Hidden Hollow Elementary and Creekwood Middle School beginning in the Fall of 2010.  The reasoning for the move according to the Humble ISD website was overcrowding of Deerwood Elementary and underutilization of Hidden Hollow Elementary.  Read more here at the district’s website.  Also read more on the Houston Chronicle website.
